Who we are and what we do
Founded in 2018 by a group of friends and film enthusiasts, the Laredo Film Society began as a way to cultivate a love for cinema along the South Texas–Mexico border. In its early days, LFS hosted pop-up screenings in different venues across the city. The goal was simple: make movie-going accessible to audiences hungry for something to do.
Since opening its doors to the public in 2021, Laredo Film Society HQ has served as a space to build community through the arts and provide a supportive environment where local creatives can bring their visions to life—via screenings, workshops, and filmmaking support.
Whether you're a novice or an expert, an indie filmmaker or a production house, there is a space for all things film at LFS.
We love Laredo, we love its people, and we embrace the duality of being born and bred in the border.
Our hope is that this pride spreads—that we tell our stories with boldness, pride, and through the art and magic of making movies.

We aim to use film as an artistic, cultural, and educational practice to build community and empower locals to create.
Through accessible programming and resources, we encourage individuals to share their stories and participate in shaping a more connected and expressive border region.
