Laredo’s Horror film Fest is back
What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. We’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead. What sets us apart isn’t just our process—it’s the intention behind it. We take time to understand, explore, and create with purpose at every turn.
The Theme: Slasher ERAS
Slashers have a special place in our hearts. They align with several of our values: inventive practical special effects, thrilling cinematography, and most especially, indie/low-budget/DIY filmmaking.
But we can’t deny they’re riddled with outdated tropes and stereotypes, racism, transphobia, and misogyny.
So we thought it’d be a good time to reinvent this horror genre with more subversive storytelling. Filmmakers are challenged to create a modern slasher film pulling heavy inspiration from each era, either the 70’s, 80’s, or 90’s.
