Laredo’s Horror film Fest is back
Join us Oct 17, 2026 for a day filled with indie fright flicks. We’ll be looping screening submissions from 3:30 - 9:00 PM CDT, with special Q+A’s after most sessions.
We’re excited to see you at LFS HQ for our third annual film fest.
The Theme: Slasher ERAS
Slashers have a special place in our hearts. They align with several of our values: inventive practical special effects, thrilling cinematography, and most especially, indie/low-budget/DIY filmmaking.
But we can’t deny they’re riddled with outdated tropes and stereotypes, racism, transphobia, and misogyny.
So we thought it’d be a good time to reinvent this horror genre with more subversive storytelling. Filmmakers are challenged to create a modern slasher film pulling heavy inspiration from each era, either the 70’s, 80’s, or 90’s.
