At a birthday party, things escalate after a Latino father pressures his grown son to play the trumpet for his guests.


THE SON WHO CAN'T PLAY TRUMPET is the return of director and Laredo-native, Isaac Garza, to his hometown. The project is the recipient of an HBO Pa'Lante Promise grant for emerging Latinx filmmakers. Garza's first short film PEPITO was the winner of the Latinx short film competition and streamed on HBO Max for two years.


The Laredo Film Society is a producer of this film as well as a fiscal sponsor. The project is currently in pre-production and seeking financial support.
